Bingo or Karaoke?

Eri and I, determined after our respective dinners, to go out and do something, tossed around the ideas of Candy Bar Bingo and Karaoke. Karaoke in the city won out - it seemed the more 'Monday Night' thing to do, so we jumped on a new tram into the city.

Heading up Swanston street, a little before our stop, 20 uni students get on the tram and sit down. One calls

"Good evening everyone! And welcome to TRAM BINGO!"

The people across from us hand us pen and paper.

And the game began.

4 21 7 9

I only had one number to go before someone down the other end of the tram yelled bingo and won some something or other.

And then as soon as they had got on the tram, they all got off and everyone (everyone was about 4 people) was kind of like 'Did that just happen?'.

I'm glad it did! Because I got to do bingo and Karaoke tonight. What a glut of entertainment I've been indulging in!

Anyway, we arrived at K Box. They had a really up-to-date DAM (サイバーダム) setup and we belted out Japanese song after Japanese song.

The whole time we were both saying 'This is great, because it's just you! I don't care if it sounds any good or not!'.

And it really didn't matter! Although we could hear the blaring canton-pop ballads clearly word for word from the next box, meaning that they could hear my bad Japanese rap (bad as in bad) and Eri's rendition of 80's J-Pop classics. We didn't care.

The bill was a little dearer than expected, but that's to be expected, and still a 20% student discount made it ok. Had better milk it like I can. Although maybe I'll ask around and see how I can get one of those seemingly perpetual student cards that several people I know have.

Anyway it's late so I'm going to have a cup of tea and go to bed. And I don't want any more of this blog to deteriorate into a "And then I..." style blog, so this is the end of this post.

I'm addicted to Chinese Take Away

Recalled that I wrote the word 'Bacon' on every single page of my year 9 diary.

I spent all last night as a well formed ascii formatted database txt file.

Everything I dreamt and thought about in my half sleep was documented IN THE CORRECT COLUMN and accessed though the CORRECT getter setter QUERY or otherwise PANIC.

CARLO has left today for 1 MONTH in Europe

Maybe it's just all the MSG from the take away?

Still, would that send Sibel Tüzün's "Superstar" - Turkey's entrant to the 2006 Eurovision song contest - looping in my head (I know you know it) convincing me that it had to be my ringtone?

"Ashka? Hazulumusu."

Besides. I was having terrible parsing problems when remembering things stored in the txt file (which was me).

Maybe it's the faint wisps of HEADACHE that's been plaguing me for a week and a half.

With all this - see me on the runway tonight at Love Machine, Prahran, for Josua Andreas, and then later shaking it at Honky Tonks

(HELLLOOOOOOO POLE!)

How Am I Supposed To Live Without Uni
By Michael Bolton Eri and Mat

(View this post from the webpage :-)

I could hardly believe it
When I heard the news today
I had to come and get it straight from you
They said I was leavin'
Someone's swept my heart away
From the look upon your face, I see it's true
So tell me all about it, tell me 'bout the
plans you're makin'
Then tell me one thing more before I go

[Chorus:]
Tell me how am I supposed to live without Uni
Now that I've been lovin' Uni so long
How am I supposed to live without Uni
How am I supposed to carry on
When all that I've been livin' for is gone

I didn't come here for cryin'
Didn't come here to break down
It's just a dream of mine is coming to an end
And how can I blame Uni
When I build my world around
The hope that one day we'd be so much
more than friends
And I don't wanna know the price I'm
gonna pay for HECS
When even now it's more than I can take

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
And I don't wanna face the price I'm
gonna pay for HECS!
Now that my dream has come true

[Chorus]

Vicious Threads Shoot

What a gorgeous journey this morning!
I woke before 6, but snoozed till 6.25. I noticed the moon, and thought about Floyd and Bowman in 2001 A Space Odyssey.

I pretty vaguely knew where I was off to -  "Just off Sydney road". Anyway, I'm modeling all day today for Vicious Threads, with an 8 am start. Was going to drive, but Carlo said the traffic would be horrendous, so I opted for the train.

And what a pleasant ride! I had my laptop all the way through the loop to Southern Cross Station, then caught the Upfield train to Brunswick station, under the city link overpass and past the zoo. I remember I used to take this journey over to Zane's place. Such a smooth and effortless journey. Quiet, peaceful. No stress.

Which is why I remembered this cafe, Zane dropped me off here one morning to catch a train home and I had coffee and toast.

This morning I'm just having coffee.

Anyway I have to get going.

So tired... Shooting all day till 6. Great fun! Too tired to blog it. Images will have to suffice....

I'm finally listed on the site!

The face shot is pixellated for now, but I swear it's not to hide any blemishes!

Hope to get some more work and get some better shots done but it'll have to do for now.

Considering that I was subject to リストラ (restructuring) this afternoon this is Good News. See, I've lost my job at MegaSun Solarium!

"A relief really, since I have so much study"

...

But a bit less cash (ノ_・、)シクシ

...

Update I've got a Sunday shift there now. 12-5!

Lesson Learnt

*Lesson Learnt Today / Tonight*
Swallow your pride and google for answers: You'll find things like this helping you out of the bug hole you've been in for hours.

It makes sense. Other newbies who don't understand the architecture of web app servers will have most likely run into the same problem as you, and if they haven't then you have a duty to ask a question and have it answered!

But most of the time you can find a solution by just googling your error messages.

AMAZING how one's mood swings with getting something working after it *not* working all afternoon and evening, due to something so friggin' basic (and nothing to do with your actual code) as not being able to run another app from the same server as another already running app.

Don't anyone dare tell me that makes sense! I thought 'Ruby on Rails' would run on the host and the apps would all by run by it from the same host. Apparently not.

Anyway, I've learnt my lesson, and know for next time.

(All this is pretty much what consumes my world these days boys and girls)

I think I might have a beverage this evening.
